Susan Ashbrook got her start in Fashion working for the designer, Richard Tyler, as his Director of Marketing and Public Relations. Richard’s high voltage celebrity clients included Julia Roberts, Anjelica Huston, Mick Jaggar and others. Recognizing celebrities can bring brand awareness through the red carpet, Ashbrook founded and pioneered the first fashion product placement company in Los Angeles and called it, Film Fashion. The company’s first client was Ralph Lauren.
Film Fashion acted as a liaison to exclusive fashion houses, fashion designers and fashion related products in the Hollywood community. Later, Ashbrook sold Film Fashion to the PR powerhouse Rogers & Cowan – owned by the Interpublic Group.
Ashbrook has been involved in “product placement” for 20 years, matchmaking top celebrities with a roster of clients such as: Akris, Lanvin, Chopard Jewelry, Swarovski, Catherine Malandrino, Domenico Vacca, Escada, Isaac Mizrahi, Lela Rose, Jenny Packham, Kenneth Cole, Herve L Leroux, Georges Chakra, Tadashi, A Pea In The Pod and Harry Winston Jewelry. She has consulted for non-fashion brands like Nikon, Hasbro Games, Mastercard, Bellini baby furniture and Hooked On Phonics.
Ashbrook’s capabilities to selectively pair the “right” celebrity with client’s products on the hottest red carpets and events has helped clients save money, time and effort. Wading through the waters of Hollywood takes a seasoned pro with a unique expertise.
After selling Film Fashion, Ashbrook took some time to develop a number of projects including her first book “Will Work For Shoes”. She consults for Parisian fashion designer, Herve L Leroux, amongst other fashion related projects.
Ms. Ashbrook’s personal interest as a lifelong equestrian brought her to produce, direct and is the on-camera personality for an Equestrian on-line magazine oriented with celebrities. She also writes a monthly column for Horse Digest Magazine. Ms. Ashbrook launched her own wine, El Rey Wine, in 2006 and is involved in the production and marketing of the business. Ashbrook continues to consult and is available for speaking engagements which have included: The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, Fashion Group International, San Francisco’s Academy of Art, Magic’s Apparel Seminars, Mastercard, and others.
